Addicted to caffeine?

February 18, 2010

Today I am particularly juiced up on my favorite drug which is caffeine. I was wondering if I was addicted to it, so I applied my caffeine habits to an alcoholics anonymous questionnaire.

- Have you ever tried to quit drinking for a period of time and started back in a day or two?

Yes. Worst day or two of my life.

- Do you resent people telling you what to do about your drinking or voicing their concern?

Yes. Don’t read this blog and try to tell me to stop caffeine. I will resent you.

- Have you tried to alter your drinking behavior by switching from one form of drink to another?

Ya. Sometimes I stay with people who don’t drink coffee. Then I have to get creative. Very annoying. Even if you don’t drink coffee, support those who do and get a coffee maker.

- Do you ever need a drink to get started in the morning or to stop the shakes?

Uhh… ya.

-Have there been problems connected with your drinking in the past year?

Yup. Heart burn, stained teeth, coffee breathe.

-Has your drinking caused problems within your household or with your significant others?

Only when Cait forgets to pickup coffee at the grocery store.

- Do you ever drink to prepare for a party or get extra drinks while there?

Absolutely. Monster before a party = great time.

- Do you tell yourself you can stop drinking when you want, but continue to get drunk when you don’t mean to?

Weird question… I don’t tell myself I can stop caffeine whenever I want, (I know I can’t) but I think I have gotten drunk on accident.

- Do you miss days at work or school because of your drinking?

Only if I don’t drink caffeine.

- Do you have blackouts when you are drinking?

No! Can that happen?

- Do you ever feel that your life would improve if you did not drink?

Absolutely not.

It said that if you answered yes to 4 or more than you may have a problem… I answered yes to 7… I may have a problem I guess.

Emoblogging

October 23, 2009

I’ve never been a blogger. When the phenomenon started it was very confusing to me. Why do people want to make all of their private thoughts public thoughts? I hated it. When I read blogs of people divulging very private emotions about being lost or broken, it made me squirm inside. I thought they must either be looking for attention or they are being very stupid by letting strangers or near strangers into their private lives. But I have recently come across a few fantastic blogs that don’t make me squirm at all. They are hilarious. Although, they do probably fall into the “looking for attention” category, its a different kind of looking for attention. Its not a conniving, twisted, “I’m hurt” looking for attention, but an obvious “I have something funny to share” looking for attention. I realized, I don’t hate blogging… I just hate emoblogging. I’m not saying all blogs have to be hilarious or even mildly funny, I’m just saying no emoblogs. If have something completely heart wrenching and personal to write about, go write it in your diary. If you need support, go talk to a close friend. But don’t subject the whole interweb to your emoblog. I realize by putting this on the web, I could possibly be offending some emobloggers. Let me just say first of all I’m sorry. I know you are sensitive and you don’t need any more pain. And secondly… please don’t emoblog about this.
